Plate Tectonics - Student Choice Projects - MS

This project-based lesson allows middle school students to demonstrate their understanding of plate boundaries through student-directed projects. A choice board outlines six project options plus a “design your own” pathway, giving students the opportunity to select the format that best matches their strengths and creativity.

An editable grading rubric is provided and can be used by teachers, peers, or students for self-assessment. The rubric may be customized to fit classroom or district grading needs, ensuring flexibility.

Supplies Needed

Projects are designed for completion with common classroom materials such as paper, markers, and scissors. Many can also be completed digitally, and optional craft supplies may be helpful for building physical models.
