Nonrenewable Energy Resources - Student Choice Projects - MS

This project-based lesson helps middle school students build their understanding of nonrenewable resources while meeting science standards. A choice board outlines six structured project options plus a “design your own” pathway, giving students the flexibility to demonstrate learning in the format that best matches their skills and interests.

An editable grading rubric is included and can be used for teacher evaluation, peer feedback, or student self-assessment. Teachers may also modify the rubric to match classroom or district requirements.

Supplies Needed

Projects are designed for completion with basic classroom materials such as paper, markers, and scissors. Many projects can also be completed digitally, and optional craft supplies may be used for model-building or other creative extensions.
