Natural & Artificial Selection Station Lab - New 2021 TEKS 7.13D

This modular, student-led activity on natural and artificial selection keeps middle schoolers actively engaged while mastering key life science concepts. In this hands-on station lab, students will describe and provide examples of how natural and artificial selection change the occurrence of traits in a population over generations. INPUT Stations – Build Understanding

• Read It! – Students read a short, differentiated passage (English & Spanish) and answer comprehension and vocabulary questions.

OUTPUT Stations – Show Understanding

• Organize It! – Students use printable or digital manipulatives to arrange and categorize information.

• Illustrate It! – Students create visual models of natural and artificial selection to reinforce understanding.

• Write It! – Open-ended writing prompts allow students to explain concepts using scientific vocabulary.

• Assess It! – Task cards and paragraph-based questions evaluate comprehension and vocabulary-in-context skills.

Bonus Station – Challenge It!
