Each station lab features eight differentiated activities that promote a personalized learning experience for every student, plus a ninth Challenge Station for early finishers or advanced learners.
In this student-centered approach, the teacher acts as a facilitator—guiding and supporting learning while students work independently or in small groups.

The nine modular stations include all signage, readings, task cards, and resources for easy setup and implementation.
The Explore It! station may require a few common materials you likely already have on hand.

Ready for In-Class or Virtual Learning

This resource is designed for maximum flexibility.
Students can complete activities in person or online, and all digital files are fully compatible with PowerPoint and Google Slides, making it easy to use in any classroom or remote learning environment.

The Stations

Input Stations – Learn and Explore

Students explore and absorb new information about the periodic table through multiple, multimodal learning experiences.

  • Explore It! – Hands-on demonstration or activity that connects lesson concepts through real-world application. In the digital version, students manipulate images and text in PowerPoint or Google Slides.

  • Read It! – Short, engaging reading passage with vocabulary and comprehension questions. Differentiated versions are available in English and Spanish for multiple reading levels.

  • Research It! – Guided online exploration where students use websites, visuals, and data to deepen their understanding of the periodic table.

  • Watch It! – Short, focused video followed by comprehension and discussion questions to reinforce learning.

Output Stations – Apply and Demonstrate Understanding

Students demonstrate what they’ve learned through creative, analytical, and written tasks that promote deeper comprehension.

  • Organize It! – Sort and classify elements or periodic trends using manipulatives or digital drag-and-drop tools.

  • Illustrate It! – Draw or model the structure of the periodic table, helping students visualize how elements are arranged and related.

  • Write It! – Respond to open-ended prompts using complete sentences and scientific vocabulary.

  • Assess It! – Apply knowledge and demonstrate mastery using task cards and vocabulary-rich written responses.

Bonus Station – Challenge It!

Perfect for early finishers and advanced learners, this extension station includes crosswords, mini-projects, and games that encourage students to explore periodic trends, groups, and properties in more depth.
