Watersheds & Human Impact Station Lab - Grades 6-8
Keep your middle school students engaged, curious, and actively learning with this modular, student-led activity on watersheds.
This comprehensive, ready-to-use resource saves you hours of prep time while allowing students to take ownership of their learning through interactive, inquiry-based exploration.
In this station lab, students will identify and compare the key characteristics of watersheds, building a strong understanding of how water flows, collects, and impacts ecosystems and human activities.
This lab is also included in the Watersheds 5E Lesson Plan, which features teaching presentations, note templates, interactive notebook activities, student projects, assessments, and engagement activities—everything you need for a complete middle school science curriculum.
Texas Teachers: This station lab aligns with the 2017 TEKS and will not be updated for the 2021 standards.
Differentiated, Modular, and Student-Led
Each station lab includes eight differentiated activities that create a personalized, student-centered learning experience, plus a ninth Challenge Station for early finishers.
Teachers act as facilitators while students explore, investigate, and collaborate—promoting independent learning and critical thinking.
The nine modular stations come complete with signage, readings, resources, and task cards, allowing students to work independently or in small groups.
The Explore It! station may require a few common classroom materials you likely already have on hand.
Ready for In-Class or Virtual Learning
This resource is designed for maximum flexibility.
Students can complete all activities in person or online, and the files are fully compatible with PowerPoint and Google Slides.
