Solids, Liquids, & Gases - Student Choice Projects - MS
Engage your middle school students with creative, student-led projects that explore the states of matter—solids, liquids, and gases—and how particle arrangement and motion determine their properties.
Aligned with middle school physical science standards, this resource allows students to choose a project format that best fits their learning and output style, fostering ownership, creativity, and critical thinking.
The project choice board features six ready-to-use options plus a “design your own” project, giving students the freedom to demonstrate their understanding in unique and meaningful ways.
An editable grading rubric makes assessment easy for teachers, peers, or students themselves, focusing on vocabulary, content accuracy, clarity, and presentation quality.
Flexible, Creative, and Student-Centered
These Student Choice Projects are designed for maximum flexibility and differentiation, making them adaptable for any classroom environment.
Teachers can customize the rubric to fit grading preferences, while students engage with multimodal project options—visual, written, digital, or hands-on—to show what they know about solids, liquids, and gases.
This structure encourages critical thinking, problem-solving, and creativity, allowing every student to connect science concepts to real-world phenomena in their own way.
