Properties of Water - Student Choice Projects - MS
Engage your middle school students with creative, student-led projects that explore the unique properties of water and its importance to life and Earth systems.
Aligned with middle school science and chemistry standards, this flexible resource allows students to choose a project format that fits their learning style, fostering ownership, creativity, and deeper scientific understanding.
The project choice board includes six ready-to-use options plus a “design your own” project, giving students the freedom to express what they’ve learned in unique and meaningful ways.
An editable grading rubric makes it easy for teachers, peers, or students themselves to assess projects based on vocabulary, content accuracy, clarity, presentation, and understanding.
Flexible, Creative, and Student-Centered
The Student Choice Projects are designed for maximum flexibility and differentiation, making them adaptable for any classroom environment.
Teachers can customize the rubric to match their grading needs, while students engage in multimodal project options—written, artistic, digital, or hands-on—to demonstrate their knowledge of water’s properties, such as cohesion, adhesion, surface tension, and polarity.
This structure encourages critical thinking, creativity, and independent learning, giving every student a chance to succeed in their own way.
