Resource Management Station Lab - New TEKS 6.11A

This student-led, modular station lab helps middle school students meet the 2021 TEKS 6.11A standard by investigating why resource management is critical in reducing global challenges such as energy poverty, malnutrition, and air and water pollution. Students rotate through multimodal activities that encourage inquiry, critical thinking, and independence, while teachers guide learning as facilitators.

The resource is designed to minimize prep with ready-to-use materials and is adaptable for both in-class and virtual instruction.

Structure & Differentiation

• Nine stations total: eight core learning activities plus a bonus challenge station

• Differentiated to support remediation for struggling learners and provide enrichment for advanced students

• Includes station signage, readings, task cards, and resources for flexible classroom use

• The Explore It! station may require a few common classroom supplies already on hand

Students can complete the lab individually or in small groups, offering flexibility for different classroom setups.

Station Breakdown

Input Stations (building knowledge):

• Explore It! – Hands-on demonstration; digital version allows interactive practice in PowerPoint or Google Slides

• Watch It! – Short video with comprehension questions

• Read It! – Differentiated passages (English & Spanish) with vocabulary and comprehension tasks

• Research It! – Data, images, and graphs with guided questions on lab sheets

Output Stations (demonstrating knowledge):

• Organize It! – Sorting and categorization tasks (printable and digital)

• Illustrate It! – Drawing/sketching models related to resource management concepts

• Write It! – Short-answer prompts requiring complete-sentence responses

• Assess It! – Task cards and vocabulary-in-context questions to check mastery

Bonus Station:

• Challenge It! – Enrichment activities such as puzzles, crosswords, games, and mini-projects for advanced learners or early finishers

Flexible Implementation

This lab is fully adaptable for in-person or virtual classrooms. All files are compatible with PowerPoint and Google Slides, making it easy to use in blended or remote environments.

This is a finished product; it will be updated with corrections as needed. Future improvements and new features will be sold as a separate product.
