
Sound Waves - Student Choice Projects - MS
This project-based lesson gives middle school students the opportunity to demonstrate their understanding of sound waves through student-directed projects. A choice board provides six structured options plus a “design your own” pathway, giving learners the flexibility to select the output style that best matches their skills and creativity.
An editable grading rubric is included and can be used for teacher grading, peer review, or self-assessment. The rubric can also be adapted to meet classroom or district expectations, making it a flexible assessment tool.

Differentiation
Two versions of the project page are provided to support a variety of learners:

Challenge Options: Teachers may assign multiple projects for advanced learners while still using the same rubric for consistency
This flexible design ensures that students of all levels can engage meaningfully with the content.
Supplies Needed
Projects are designed to use basic classroom materials such as paper, markers, and scissors. Many can also be completed digitally, while optional craft supplies may be incorporated for hands-on model-building or creative extensions.
