Renewable Energy Resources - Student Choice Projects - MS

This project-based lesson gives middle school students the opportunity to demonstrate their understanding of renewable resources through student-directed projects. A choice board presents six structured project options plus a “design your own” pathway, allowing students to showcase their learning in a way that best fits their strengths, creativity, and learning style.

An editable grading rubric is included and can be used for teacher assessment, peer feedback, or student self-assessment. Teachers may also adapt the rubric to align with specific classroom or district grading needs.

Differentiation

Two versions of the project page are provided:

• Challenge Options: Advanced learners can be assigned multiple projects while being graded with the same rubric for consistency

This ensures that the resource can be easily adapted to support a wide range of learners.

Supplies Needed

Projects are designed for completion with standard classroom materials such as paper, markers, and scissors. Many activities can also be completed digitally, while optional craft supplies may be used for hands-on model-building.
