Genes - Student Choice Projects, New TEKS 8.13B
This project-based lesson supports the 2021 TEKS 8.13B standard by giving middle school students multiple ways to demonstrate their understanding of genes and their role in heredity. A choice board outlines six structured project options plus a “design your own” pathway, allowing students to showcase their learning in a way that fits their strengths, creativity, and output style.
An editable grading rubric is included for flexible assessment. It can be used by teachers, peers, or students for self-evaluation and is fully customizable to match classroom needs.
