Borax Crystal Star - Spangler Video Worksheets with CER
This product compliments Steve Spangler's hugely popular "Sick Science" YouTube videos. Starting with an entertaining video, the worksheet packs inquiry, reading, comprehension questions, experimental design, and CER practice into this middle school lesson.
What's included?
The designed-for-print worksheet that accompanies the Spangler S!CK Science video is also offered as a PDF and an editable PowerPoint file that has been tested for Google Sheets compatibility.
Watch - Read - Write - Design - Respond to EvidenceStudents start by watching an entertaining video showing a mysterious science phenomenon or trick in action. The worksheet is structured so they can pick up the inquiry from there: "How did he DO that?"
Students will recall and collect basic information about the events in the video then read a short, easy to understand description of the science concepts shown.
Next, students will explain what they've learned through comprehension questions. They'll explore the science more deeply as they design their own experiment or prototype.
Lastly, students will summarize their learning by completing a CER to justify a claim related to the main science theme of the video.
Spangler videos make it memorable and the worksheets reinforce the learning.
This is a finished product; it will be updated with corrections as needed. Future editions will be sold as a separate product.
