Valentine's Day Science Escape Room - Season 1 - 6th 7th 8th Grade Science Review Activity
The valentine's day escape room is an immersive experience for your middle school students. It allows them to demonstrate their knowledge of logic, graphing, atomic mass, heart anatomy, volcanoes, and density in a fun and engaging way. This one is perfect to do during the week of Valentine's Day.
Student should have knowledge of:
- volcanoes (diagram included if you haven't gone over it yet)
- density (formula included if you haven't gone over it yet)
- heart anatomy (diagram included if you haven't gone over it yet)
- molar mass (adding mass of atoms)
- graphing
A Unique Escape Room Experience:
Unlike many escape rooms, the teacher is in total control on which of the 8 puzzles they want to use and in which order to use them. Each puzzle is independent of the others. This is great for shorter or longer class periods.
The Challenge:
Cupid has left a special treat for you and your teacher to enjoy. To earn your reward, you need to show science and logic some LOVE. Use those brains to solve the series of clues Cupid has left behind. Earn your sweet reward by solving puzzles about graphing, heart anatomy, density, volcanoes, and logic. All your science smarts and teamwork skills combine for a LOVELY time as you try to escape this Valentine’s day challenge! What’s not to LOVE about science?
What Materials Will I Need?
The escape room can be run in several different ways. The cheapest and easiest method is to use manila envelopes for the puzzles (all directions provided).
For a more authentic escape room each group will need the following:
- One Lockout Hasp
- Three, 4-digit locks
- One storage box that includes a place for the lockout hasp
Both methods will need the following:
- All printed materials from the puzzles chosen
- Manila envelopes (used for each of the puzzles)
- Conversation hearts by Brach's (paper hearts included if you don't want to use candy)
- Pipe cleaner (orange, blue, green, purple) - pre-made paper version included if you don't want to make the models
- Pony beads (pink, white, red) - pre-made paper version included if you don't want to make the models
